Frequently Asked Questions

How long do drugs stay detectable in urine?
Detection windows vary by substance and frequency of use. THC (marijuana): 3-30 days. Cocaine: 2-4 days. Opiates: 2-4 days. Amphetamines: 2-4 days. Actual detection depends on individual metabolism, hydration, and frequency of use.
Is the test confidential?
Yes. Your test results are confidential. For employer-ordered tests, results are reported only to the authorized employer contact. For personal tests, results go only to you.
What if I test positive?
For employer-ordered tests, a positive result is reviewed by a Medical Review Officer (MRO) who will contact you to determine if there is a legitimate medical explanation such as a valid prescription. For personal tests, you receive the result directly.
Do I need to fast before a drug test?
No fasting is required for urine drug tests. For best results, maintain normal fluid intake. Excessive water consumption immediately before testing can dilute the specimen and may require a retest.
What is a DOT drug test?
A DOT drug test is a federally mandated urine drug screen required for safety-sensitive transportation employees under U.S. Department of Transportation regulations (49 CFR Part 40). It tests for 5 substances and must follow strict federal collection, laboratory, and MRO review procedures.
Can I use a prescription medication and still pass?
Prescription medications can cause non-negative results. If you test positive and have a valid prescription, the MRO will contact you to verify this information before a final determination is made.
How accurate is a breathalyzer BAC test?
Our evidential breath testing devices (EBTs) are DOT-approved and federally calibrated for high accuracy. Breathalyzer results are available immediately and can be used as evidence in legal proceedings including DUI court cases.
