Live Scan fingerprinting is a digital, inkless method of capturing fingerprint images electronically and transmitting them directly to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Unlike traditional ink-and-roll methods, Live Scan produces cleaner, more accurate prints that are immediately processed — reducing turnaround time from weeks to days.
The State of California requires Live Scan fingerprinting for a wide range of employment, licensing, and volunteer purposes. AccuScan Solutions is a DOJ-authorized Live Scan service provider serving San Jose, Oakland, and the greater Bay Area.
Teachers, school employees, volunteers, childcare workers, and anyone working with minors must complete Live Scan for CTC credentials and background checks.
Nurses, dentists, physicians, pharmacists, therapists, home care aides, and all licensed healthcare professionals in California require Live Scan for state licensing.
Security guards, alarm company employees, private investigators, and firearms permit applicants must complete Live Scan through BSIS.
Attorneys seeking California Bar admission, visa applicants, immigration and naturalization processes, and court-ordered checks all require Live Scan.
Foster parents, adoption applicants, group home staff, and residential care facility employees must be fingerprinted through CDSS.
Real estate agents, notaries, car dealers, vehicle salespeople, and many other licensed professionals require DOJ background checks via Live Scan.

Your fingerprints are transmitted electronically to the DOJ and/or FBI immediately. You'll receive a Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number as confirmation.
The DOJ processes your background check and sends results directly to the requesting agency — typically within 3–5 business days for DOJ, 6–8 weeks for FBI.
DOJ and FBI fees are mandated by the government and collected on their behalf. AccuScan's rolling fee covers the fingerprinting service only. Fees must be paid at time of service. We accept cash and card.
